Tense Shoulders

Everybody appears to be suffering from muscular tension in the Trapezius/shoulder muscles.

This is brought on by stress, generally.  Waste products of cell respiration accumulate in the muscles and we find a build up of crunchy, crystallised blockages.

Massage, is obviously the first remedy. Along with de-stressing the mind and detoxing the body.   Book in for them, regularly.

Try to relax, make a conscious effort, via meditation, pampering, switching off all electric appliances and stimulation, every so often and making time to do things you enjoy.  Try not to rely on Benzodiazpines (such as Valium and Xanax) or alcohol as these are just going to add to the waste matter causing the problem.

Apply essential oils and herbal remedies that absorb into the skin to assist the detoxification of the muscles.  Neals Yard Remedies Arnica Salve is a particular favourite, which can be applied topically at any time and offers instant relief.  The Elemis Musclease Range is also excellent.

You can add essential oils such as Rosemary, Black Pepper, Ginger and Epsom Salts or Bicarbonated Soda to warm baths to draw out toxins and soothe the muscles.

Heat helps too, by warming the muscle, you’re bringing fresh blood supply to the area.  Steam and saunas are good; plus heat packs.

Exercise, stretch (warm-up and cool down!)

And lastly make sure you have a good pillow.  The height and density can make a huge difference.
